In 1982 the National Institute upon Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the Finnish Foundation for Alcohol Studies initiated the International frame on Adolescent Drinking, to organize the international literature onward alcohol and youth. The goal of the plan is to determine the disentanglement nature, and extent of alcohol use at adolescents in a variety of agricultures Working groups met in conjunction with the 29th and 30th International Institutes forward the Prevention and Treatment of Alcoholism in 1983 and 1984

In 1985 scientists from 21 countries met in Washington, DC to compile the major research findings from their respective countries. The specific objectives of this meeting were to assess the state of knowledge and resources that underline the findings upon alcohol involvement among youth in pickeded countries; to assess deficiencies in national databases forward youth and alcohol; to identify psychosocial determinants of the assault of drinking and alcohol involvement among young tribe internationally; and to identify areas in ne of information and records. The meeting was the basis for reports according to individual countries on such topics as past and existing trends in drinking, sociocultural influences, and alcohol-related problems

following meetings from 1986 through 1989 ended in reports from the following 28 countries: Canada, the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru Ecuador, Chile, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Greece Israel, Zambia, Nigeria, India, and recently made known Zealand.

The reports from these countries are the basis of a research monograph, to be published by way of the Finnish Foundation for Alcohol Studies. Dr Salme Ahlstrom of the Social Institute of Alcohol Studies in Helsinki, Finland, and Dr Thomas Harford of the National Institute onward Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism in Rockville, Maryland, will edit the monograph and conduce to as project officers for their respective institutes. Publication of the monograph is rely uponed in the spring of 1992; the monograph will be available from the Finnish Foundation for Alcohol Studies, Kalevankatu 12 SF-00100 Helsinki, Finland.
