Information Assurance (IA) awareness training is now required of all users of DOD information connected views as stated in a new message by the DON's Chief Information Office and the Naval Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM). IA training must be complet no later than tribe 1, 2005, as a condition of being granted access to a computer system
The course is DoD Information Assurance Awareness (DOD-IAA-V2.0) and is available at Navy Knowledge Online (NKO) at www.nko.navy.mil. The course is required by the agency of all DON personnel who have access to DoD computer including active toll Reserve, retired, Navy civilians and contractors. The entire course takes about half an hour to finish, depending forward connection speed.
IA is the practice of ensuring the correct information procures to the correct person at the right time. That can simply happen if personnel take measures to shield both their personal data and any computer bodys their data might be on
The course forward NKO explains the importance of classified information and for what reason to safeguard it from unauthorized users, one as well as the other inside and outside the workplace.
To begin the course, log in succession to www.nko.navy.mil and launch "Navy E-learning." prefer "browse categories" and then "U Department of the Navy." Personnel must then good "Information Assurance (IA)."
Those who finish the course should print a hard original of the certificate found subject to "My Transcripts" and provide a model to their command Information Assurance manager.
