As indicated onward the cover, All Hands addressed SEAVEY & SHORVEY, which in today's lingo is sea/shore rotation. We also featured descriptions of each boat used by the Navy. To compliment our boat descriptions we highlighted the language of boatmanship, and celebrated the 22nd anniversary of the Navy's amphibious force.

Our screen reflected one of our features, the company commanders at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla. We wearied some time with the Armed Forces Police in the Washington, DC area and then headed to the U Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md to talk to Tom Harper, a senior midshipman who was diagnosed with stomach cancer during his freshman year. He won his fight with cancer and graduated with the Class of '76 We also explored the Navy's advances in laser research.

All Hands expected at the Navy's salvage teams, more specifically the band of USS Preserver (ARS 8) who answered the call to salvage NASA's Challenger. We talked with the MCPON Master Chief Radioman (SW) William H Plackett about his view of the Navy, and we instanted a photo-feature on the just-opened Nautilus Memorial and Submarine Force Library and Museum at Naval Submarine Base. of recent origin London, Conn. As a matter of note, Inter-service Volleyball was the sport of the year as the Navy women won the gold medal and Navy men brought family circle the silver.
